20 Long AIO: New Minimalist Aquascape

I have been browsing the forums lately looking at others tanks, and the minimalist aquascape look has really grown on me. Since finishing the 20 long, I noticed that there are quite a few dead spots in the tank where flow does not easily make it – this is a problem and can cause detritus build up, which will eventually lead to algae blooms. So, in trying to avoid that, while testing a new scape, here is what I have come up with.

Before:
20 gallon long all in one front with hood open

I was able to add in a second koralia 2 with this setup, and with nearly 1400 gallon per hour flow in this tank, there are no dead spots. I was also able to get the koralias on an oscillate mode with the aquacontroller jr which the fish and coral really seem to like. As you can see, some algae has started growing that transferred from my old aquarium, but it is slowly disappearing since the rock rearrangement.

I really like how there is a lot of open sand now – I may try to pick up a staghorn hermit now there there is actually some space for them to walk. With all this new flow, I have opened up my options to start adding in some SPS coral, which will be a new experience for me.

Let me know what you think!
